How commissioning a portrait works:
Send a brief message below describing generally what kind of portrait you’re interested in and your availability for a 15 minute phone consultation.
During the consultation, you and the artist will work out the details of the painting and estimates of pricing.
The artist will send an official quotation via email.
You will submit a retainer fee, and the artist will paint a sketch of the concept usually within 3-4 weeks. The retainer fee will go toward the eventual price of the commissioned portrait.
At this point, you will have the ability to review and suggest minor changes. Note: Major changes requiring a new sketch or significant time will require an additional retainer fee that does not go toward the price of the painting.
Once the sketch concept has been approved, you will be asked to pay 50% of the portrait cost up front, and then the portrait is commissioned. Once commissioned, it is perfectly fine to contact the artist via email to check the status of the projected timeline. However, you may not make major changes to the original concept.
